Filthy Mank aka (Chris Jackson) has been involved in Music since the
age of 12 when he bought his
first 12” from the legendary Eastern Bloc records in Manchester. What
quickly followed was a thirst
and need to discover all there was to discover within the world of
electronically produced music.
Listening to his peers Dave Haslam, 808 State, Justin Robertson Graham
Park and Spending days
in records shops on dusty floors crate digging and trying to quench
his first and honing his craft on
his 1210’s by night, he started making Mix Tapes for his friends which
still get played to this day..!!
After hooking up with a close friend FJ (Frankie Lauder) they set up
an unstoppable DJ duo and
band called (Rhythms Law) and gained several gigs and residencies in
and around the Manchester
Club/Bar scene playing House in all its guises in the late 90’s. After
much deliberation they decided
to go their separate ways and Chris decided to build on his previous
success with the duo and
gained several residencies and guest spots at some of Manchester’s
underground venues including
Knowhere Bar, Elemental, Generation X, Music Box, Manto’s to name a
small few !! Hitting his early
20’s he decided he just did not want to play records he wanted to
understand how they were crafted
from start to finish, form being created in the Studio to hitting DJ’s
record boxes, so he decided to
gain this knowledge by enrolling on a Music Production course and
quickly gained respect and love
for his passion for Music and Sound. During this time he quickly
discovered that his true passion was
in the end result (playing to the crowd).
Fast forward to now and having bought Fresh-Air.Fm an Internet radio
station his goal was clear,
to spread and showcase the worlds best underground talent. After
several meetings and with a
heavy heart he then re sold Fresh-Air.Fm to a college up North due to
unrealistic costs he could not
sustain.
One to never chase the lime light he is one to let the music do the
talking and is very deliberate in
his choice of appearing at select venues and nights, whilst still
showcasing his “Dirt Box” sessions
in quirky select venues 2012 will see “Dirt Box” taking in new cities
across the UK whilst still
maintaining the uniqueness of the night he feels it is time to take it
to the next level and build on
this success…..watch this space……
