Artist Info:
Meandisco was born on the banks of Neva in St. Petersburg, Russia. His musical journey is rooted in experiments with early disco sounds and elements from multiple genres. His inspirations, ideas and style stem from his childhood fascination with artists such as Jean Michel Jarre, SPACE (Ecama), Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, and Cerrone, along with a broad range of Blues, Jazz and Classic...al musicians.
In mid 90’s, through a premature exposure to the New York underground dance community, (at age 14), he got an early schooling from a broad variety of artists ranging from Timmy Regisford to Frankie Bones. In 2001, while working alongside public relations specialists from various genres of electronic music at K7! Records / Studio Distribution and Global Underground, he acquired deep insight into the dance music industry. By the age of 18 he assisted public relations for world’s renowned artists; house legends Kerri Chandler, progressive titans John Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren, Satoshi Tomiie, Steve Lawler, Deep Dish, Darren Emerson, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Lee Burridge, techno superstars Sven Väth, Steve Bug, trance giants Tiësto, Paul Van Dyk, ATB, and visionaries like James Lavelle, along with many other talented musicians…
Around the same time, (early 2000), he worked at New York City’s legendary club Vinyl, (later know as ARC). Although he came in contact with many renowned DJs before and was a regular at club Twilo, it was Vinyl that truly brought him closer to the artists and music that inspired him further. There, beginning his friendship with infamous DJ/producer Danny Tenaglia for whom he worked in the following years. It was actually Danny who came up with the moniker, MEANDISCO. But Danny Tenaglia wasn’t the only mentor and inspiration, weekly Body & Soul parties also held at club Vinyl, led by legends François K, Danny Krivit, and Joaquin “Joe” Claussell made a dramatic impact on future musical direction and aspirations…
MEANDISCO stuck as an alias for DJ gigs and musical productions, which consisted of a series of white label releases in early 2000’s, (as part of a duo Funky Comrades). Later the name transcended into a theme and a staple for events held in various locations in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and internationally in Rio de Janeiro and his hometown, St. Petersburg.
2009 hailed a start of new ventures; TECHN(+), a concept, turned into a weekly Thursday night party at the SIN SIN Club. His carefully crafted opening sets and late night closings showcased his ability to reach a broad, multi-genre crowd with interest from both the party goers and DJs in the tracks he played. His skills were praised by both the venue director/owner Matt, and promoter RED, (the force behind the SOULGASM party with DJ/Producer Brian Coxx and curator for newly re-launched Satellite Records).
Using his party as a testing ground, exposing underrated local talent and emerging producers/DJs, bringing in artists like; Filsonik (Objektivity/SYAM), Manik (Ovum), Animaltek, DJ Michelangelo, Fiord, Vadim (Less), and many other soldiers of the New York scene. He opened and closed TECHN(+) parties weekly, (often playing extended sets over four hours), repeatedly taking his events to CLUB 205, MOOMIA and regularly playing at SULLIVAN ROOM, a truly underground and legendary New York City club, which opens a new chapter of collaborations...
Meandisco joins forces with SR Serge to conceptualize and re-invent a weekly Saturday night and bring a new daring dance music escapade; PROPAGANDA MUSIC BUREAU, opening it's doors December 17, 2011 with Darren Emerson...
Meandsico’s industry experience, inspirational force and musical knowledge expanded beyond the dance floor, in time reaching a friend Barris V., (a director of then a startup project), GRADIENT MAGAZINE. He persuaded Barris to join in on a yearly escapade to the White Isle – Ibiza. Barris was so moved by the experience that upon return, it was inevitable, GRADIENT MAGAZINE was taking a drastic turn. The fire spread quickly through the staff, as Meandisco’s influence replaced various musical genres, which dominated the office, by some of the best underground techno artists of the day, which are now covered by the magazine. Currently, GRADIENT MAGAZINE is one of the leading publications and online sources for music content, artist interviews and event reviews.
…Through exploration, experiments, dedication, a professional experience in the music industry and New York City nightclubs, Meandisco possesses exceptional abilities and skills. It can be observed through his track selection, mixes, the multi-ego musical performances, events, and projects.
